But! Exciting news! Today my Captain Jack figurine arrived! He's fabulous in his coat! Although...somewhat unfortunately he doesn't seem to be able to hold his Webley right and also appears to be wearing lipstick. LMAO, must have been feeling pretty.

I've reanimated the planet_alnilam community so V's boys and whoever else wants to join to hang out with AL, the guys, the unicorns and whoever can. This is to hopefully cut down on those serious discussions that wind up over in the Inkwell on birthdays (plus I live for RP, lol). So please join if you like.

AL herself may make a post later on, but like I said in the intro post, don't wait for me to post to start a conversation. Anyone who's a member can post, so have at it!

And now I need to do laundry and take a shower.

Already the new year has brought many new things! Namely, Skype (I know, I know, I'm bloody late on this one), and the wonder that is tailors!

Yes, I've never been to a tailor before yesterday, but I had some pants--well, all of my pants, really--that were too damn long. Since they are dress pants, and since I am now sitting in an airport to fly halfway around the world to impress some people, I thought maybe I shouldn't trip over my own damn pants. So I took two pairs in to be shortened and lo and behold! It was easy! It was cheap! And now I have pants that fit! Holy cow! It is WONDERFUL! When I get back in town I am going to take ALL of my pants to them for alterations. Think of it! No more rolling up all my jeans! No more gappy-ass syndrome! This is truly wonderful.


Skype! It took all of 5 minutes to install and learn, and then Antoine and I are having our first video call! This was my first video call ever (from the study to the bedroom). And what do we do with it? Promptly grab the cat and shove his face up to the camera. Ah web cam. Actually it's pretty fun when someone walks around with the laptop. This was to prepare us for this trip to Spain, and other longer trips in the future. Then I called Mom and taught her to do it too, so now we're one big Skyping family, and I can see Oz on occasion. Awesomeness!


I am now waiting for stage one of a four stage journey. ABQ to Fort Worth, Fort Worth to London Heathrow, Heathrow to Madrid, and then taking a train from Madrid to Valencia (and then I guess walking to the hostel). This is somewhat easier than driving to Portland, training to Seattle, busing to Vancouver, flying to Toronto and then Madrid, training to Valencia and then training to that tiny town that dropped me off in an empty field by a gravel road in the middle of the night. Yes, this is much better than that, except I don't get to hang out with Jade :(

Whoops, we're boarding. Time to buy some red vines!

8:57pm: I appear to be on the pain wagon.

First of all my arms...I may have to go on RP hiatus for a day or two (say it ain't so!) because I seem to have aggravated my arms and now they're all sore. Damn annoying.

As for my eyes, well I don't know what's up with them they suddenly got dry, which is rather unusual because I haven't been near anything dusty (which reminds me, must take out garbage) or otherwise allergy inducing.

And my left leg - or more specific the ankle area is just sore from ice skating, I think I may have done my boots up too tightly or my foot rolled outwards. Either way most irritating especially when I forget it's sore and ow!

As for the interview today, well the beautician I used did I really nice thing and opened early so I could get my eyebrows and upper lip waxed and even put some nice lipstick on me. Fingers crossed that this pans out into something!

Anywho, due to my soreness - I'll makes this quick.

New episode of Heroes tomorrow at 8 and 9pm (and back in its old time slot starting next week). New episode of House next Monday at 8pm. So now I'll be watching both. I've lost track of the new Scrubs. And no new Doctor Who 'til Spring. Who else cried? Me, I bawled like a baby.

I haven't forgotten about the Tigon sitting in my Inbox. I'll page her at some point.

10:04pm: It's been a long time since I've ice skated, no doubt about it. I wasn't quite used to it, but I managed not to fall over at least until I was actually off the ice. That's right, I managed to trip over my skates while standing on solid ground. Go me. :OP

But yes! 2 hours of skating, I thought my legs were going to hurt all day but they seem to OK now, phew!

And just as fortunately, my father was able to come by on his way from dropping my mother off at work to get me so I didn't have to fiddle around with buses or trains.

So here I am, back at home, RPing away, fun stuff.

I swear, Google Maps is the greatest invention EVAR for travelers like me. I now have a folder with walking routes plotted for the train station to hostel, hostel to each museum I need to get to, and I have plotted the location of the nearest Mercadona. Mmm Mercadona. Home of cheap groceries and tasty cheese.

I have very little spending money for this trip (actually, I haven't heard back from Compass at all and my Euros were supposed to be here Wednesday/Thursday at the latest, so I may have NO spending money), so I will be living off of tuna sandwiches, nutella, and 99 cent boxed Don Simon sangria. Actually, even if I had the money, I probably wouldn't eat out much. In my experience being a lone diner in Spain makes you a nuisance that all the waiter's resent, and frankly, when I am alone in a different country, I don't like to go out of my way to pay to have people be mean to me. And waiters in Spain can be very, very mean.

I have bought plane tickets and train tickets. Maps and lists and tried on interview clothes, and am preparing to pack. Basically I'm prepared for everything except what I'm actually going to say in my meetings (which aren't exactly set yet...I'm still waiting for confirmation of date and time). There's a lot that can go wrong on this trip, and there's a lot that could just...not happen, which would make it a considerable waste of money and leave me at a loss for how to proceed in this grad student business. I guess if it's a bust and nothing happens I will just try again in June. If it is a fiasco and these 2 to 3 museums hate me, I will try with different museums in June.

And that's that.


I am very nervous.

10:12pm: At work today. So I got off two hours early, which was nice, although seeing as I'm a volunteer I don't get paid or anything.

Anyway! Tomorrow is ice skating, I'm excited! Must go to bed at a reasonable hour though, since we're getting a rather early start - well, early for me.

Hee, hart_on_sleeve is having a very interesting New Year's Eve party complete with a fight and snog with the latest of his alternates! There's bruises and blood, but in Johnland that's fabulous! ;O)

He never fails to entertain. Although I'm in danger of doing too much typing again...

I'm refreshing the Doctor Who squee post for the running commentary of the episode that's airing RIGHT NOW in the UK and that I can't get 'til later. I hope they get it online FAST!

9:09pm: So my stomach has been a bitch for a while now...causing quite a few problems, I spent last night at my friend's house as I said, but I decided I wasn't up to spending the day at another friends place so I came home here.

I also wanted to check on the dog because of the fireworks, since my little brother lost his keys to the house here and couldn't get in. But when I got home he told me he'd got through the bathroom window and the dog was fine, which is good to hear.

But yeah the stomach is been very particular and annoying...the stomachache seems to have gone away, but now I have a bit of heartburn. That's seriously annoying.

Although I hope my stomach will be good for the weekend because I've got my volunteer work tomorrow and then ice skating on Sunday! I don't want to miss out! :O(

Yep. Doctor Who and a warm bed.

Nothing like it.

Frankly, I think I'm gonna be asleep at midnight...

I think I'm coming down with something. The past couple days I've woken up with heartburn and lightheaded and dizzyness. It usually passes after a while but while I was at the theater last night I was so dizzy I was in tears. Luckily I got them to let me come home early. I went to sleep at 10:45 and didn't wake up 'til 1pm.

And no, I'm not pregnant. I took a test and it was negative.

And my left eye keeps twitching and it's annoying.

I've gotten 163 songs put back on Donna2.0 (the replacement). Lots more to get back...and forget about the texts and contacts and pictures. I'm just gonna have to save them as people text and call me.

So my year's gonna end with a Doctor Who Season 4 marathon and me going to sleep. Ed went to his parents' cuz Joey's driving up from Virginia and I stayed here cuz I feel like crap.

1:45am: A bit late! But here you go, a picture of the greatest fireworks show on Earth!

Right now, I'm here with my friend Zep, who's watching Children of Earth, which this second time around is personally offensive. The plot holes! The plot hooooles! Arrrgh!

Yeah, in closing, shoehorning this show into Torchwood was a wank. Lame...

10:41pm: Yep! My friend Zep has invited me over for New Year's Eve. This is quite exciting, although regrettably I'll miss the fireworks! I don't think that's happened since...1999. But it'll be worth it to hang with friends (some others will join us. :O) There will be DVD watching and munchie eating.

She's even going to pick me up, which is pretty cool.
